自2011年8月深圳大运留学基金会成立以来，已资助留学生752人（其中来中国境内的留学生453人，出国、境留学学生299人），他们有的正在境内学校孜孜不倦地学习，有的成为了助力中外文化交流的使者，有的正在用实践感知中华魅力……他们来自世界各地，肤色不同，语言不一，但他们都有一颗爱中国、爱深圳的心。
2022年，基金会的资助已经圆满完成，为了激励更多留学生们通过自身努力获得基金会的资助，实现大学梦，弘扬大运精神，我们特开辟“助学·筑梦”栏目，将优秀留学生的故事呈现给大家，展现榜样的力量。
本期推介的优秀留学生是目前就读于中国科学院深圳先进技术研究院的巴基斯坦博士生Abdur Rasool 罗昌国。

■2021年，获IEEE R10学生研究论文竞赛一等奖
2020年，从东华大学硕士毕业的巴基斯坦学生Abdur Rasool“南下”来到深圳，成为中国科学院深圳先进技术研究院（以下简称SIAT）计算机应用技术专业的一名博士生。
在SIAT的近两年时间里，Abdur Rasool研究DNA数据储存系统，取得了显著成果；正在进行国家重点研发计划项目的实验；参与了学校实验室研究员的工作，在校期间已发表13篇学术论文。
此外，Abdur Rasool也有着热爱生活的一面：他积极参加学校组织的文体活动，如学习书法、打羽毛球、跑步；参加新春活动体验中国文化；在校内成为一名核酸检测团队的志愿者；为校图书馆捐赠英语书籍；参加2021年高交会……Abdur Rasool表示，在深圳的活动让他拥有更健康的生活，也有机会认识到更多朋友。
"Don't let your dreams be dreams." Abdur Rasool表示，深圳对于他而言是实现梦想的地方，希望在未来能将创新研究成果转化到行业应用中，为中国和巴基斯坦贡献自己技能和力量。

Please introduce yourself first.
I am Abdur Rasool from Pakistan. I am 29 years old and doing a Ph.D. in Computer applied technology. I am studying at one of the outstanding research institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT).
I joined this research institute in July 2020. Recently, I achieved an Excellent International Student award from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). I am passionate about scientific innovations and contributions to society. Whenever I receive any award or acknowledgment, it encourages me to be on the right path for more scientific exploration.

Why did you choose to study in Shenzhen?

What attracts you to Shenzhen?
My research institute (SIAT) was the main reason I came to Shenzhen because it has many advantages. For instance, there are diverse research labs for Computer applied technology, high impact in the scientific research community, global collaborations with high-ranking universities, and key labs. In recent years, this institute has achieved another milestone in the form of SIAT university, which might be a workplace for me in the future. Meanwhile, Shenzhen's brighter future, numerous opportunities for foreigners, and lively environment attracted me most to select Shenzhen to accomplish my dreams.

中国科学院深圳先进技术研究院（SIAT）是吸引我来深圳的主要原因，因为这所学校具有很多方面的优势。
例如，这里配备了多样化的计算机应用技术研究实验室、在国内外科研界具有极高的影响力、与世界排名前列的知名高校开展全球合作、拥有多个国家级重点实验室等等。近年来，深圳先进院又取得了另一项里程碑式的成就——建设深圳理工大学，这可能成为我未来的工作之地。

What is your first impression of Shenzhen? And now?
Does this impression change?
Shenzhen, a well-developed and iconic city in China, is my first impression of Shenzhen because it rapidly progressed from a fishing village to China's Silicon Valley. Instead of its profound history, let me say what I am experiencing now about today's Shenzhen. It's the youngest 1st tier city in China, and it has several world-class innovative enterprises, including HUAWEI, and Tencent. I would say my first impression was perfect about this city; it is not changed.

你对深圳的第一印象是什么？你现在觉得深圳如何？这种印象会改变吗？
我对深圳的第一印象是深圳是“一座发达的标志性城市”，它从一个小渔村迅速发展成为“中国硅谷”，非常了不起。
我想说的不是深圳底蕴深厚的历史，而是我现在对当今深圳的感受。深圳是中国最年轻的一线城市，拥有华为、腾讯等多家世界级创新企业。要说起我对这座城市的第一印象，那就是“完美”，这种印象从未改变。

During your study in Shenzhen, do you have any special experience that you will never forget? Please give an example.
Well, an unforgettable experience would be an achievement of this outstanding award from UCAS. And, of course, no one forgets the city or university where one received his Ph.D. degree.

What do you think of the learning and cultural atmosphere in Shenzhen? Do you like it?
The learning environment in Shenzhen is advanced; the resources are easily accessible to learn or practice any new skill. Similarly, the cultural values are profound, as in many other cities.

What activities have you participated in while studying in Shenzhen?
Which scene impressed you most? Why?
Apart from my educational training, I have actively participated in recreational and sports activities, for example, mountain climbing, badminton, running, long jumping, etc. For me, the most impressive activity was joining the 2021 Hi-Tech Fair Exhibition Center in Shenzhen, where I presented my lab group's achievements and learned about numerous novel Chinese technologies.

How do you feel about being supported by the Foundation? What is the help to study?
With this remarkable success, I am grateful to the Shenzhen government and SUISF for honoring me with the excellent scholarship award of 2022. Meanwhile, I am thankful to my institute, SIAT-CAS, for recommending my application to the selection committee for recruiting me to the winner's list. Indeed, many thanks to China for providing me with an excellent opportunity to flourish in my dreams.

What are your plans after graduation?
My key plan is to stay in Shenzhen for my career after my graduation. I will try to explore the best opportunity in academia and transform my innovative achievement into the industry for the progress of China. As I get many outstanding scholarships from China for my higher education, I will serve China for several years. Maybe later, I would like to go back to my country, Pakistan, to contribute my skills for a better future for my country.

我的主要计划是毕业后留在深圳发展个人事业。我将努力在学术界寻求最好的机会，并将自己的创新成果转化到行业应用中，为中国的进步做贡献。
由于我在中国接受高等教育时获得了许多优秀奖学金，我会留在中国工作若干年。也许以后，我想回到我的国家巴基斯坦，为祖国更好的未来贡献我的技能。
